How We Test and Value Your Gold and Silver
New Zealand Gold Merchants provides a straightforward and secure way to turn your old jewellery, industrial scrap, or bullion into cash. Using advanced testing technology and decades of refining experience, we accurately determine the weight, purity, and current market value of your gold.
We test all products using Olympus XRF (X-ray Fluorescence), which confirms the purity of the metal without damaging the item. We also check for carat markings and hallmarks, verify the weight, and calculate the price based on live rates. Once the value is confirmed, we deposit the funds directly into your bank account.
Urban Mining – The Future of Gold Refining
Gold is one of the few metals that can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality. At our Onehunga facility, your old jewellery is melted down and purified into certified NZ PURE™ gold bars.
This process, called urban mining, is helping New Zealanders recycle gold without harming the planet. From heirloom rings to scrap offcuts, every piece gets a second life.
