About New Zealand Gold Merchants
For 50 years, New Zealand Gold Merchants has been providing the highest quality service to customers looking to buy or sell gold, silver, platinum, or palladium—both in New Zealand and offshore.
Along with our NZ Pure brand, we offer many of the world’s leading bullion brands in various forms, including coins, cast bars, and tablets.
In addition to our bullion trading operations, we operate a state-of-the-art refinery, where impure precious metals are processed into pure gold and silver. We refine metals from a variety of sources, including:
- Gold mined sustainably on New Zealand’s West Coast
- Old jewellery and excess materials from the jewellery manufacturing process
- Silver recovered from medical processes, cutlery, and jewellery
Once refined, these pure metals are manufactured into the NZ Pure brand of gold and silver and sold across New Zealand. With over 20,000 satisfied customers, New Zealand Gold Merchants is the leading provider of gold and silver trading services in New Zealand.

For over 20 years, we were based in Penrose, providing customers with a trusted place to buy and sell in person. Now, we have moved to our new, state-of-the-art facility at 273 Neilson St, Onehunga, a location rich in history and significance.
Our new premises, formerly the Onehunga Woollen Mills, has a legacy dating back to 1886, when it was established to manufacture woollen goods for New Zealand’s domestic market. The site holds architectural significance, retaining elements of a nineteenth-century, purpose-built mill and standing as an industrial work by William Skinner, a notable Auckland architect.
We have carefully restored this historic building, preserving its heritage while creating a modern space that reflects our vision for the future. Here, we continue to offer an exceptional customer experience, combining tradition with innovation in a setting that honours its past.
