Yvonne started with NZGM in 2004 and jokes that she was fired on her first day. “I was renovating our house and the day I was meant to start I called Tony to tell him I had to help the plumber and would call him at lunch time. Lunch time came and the sparky arrived, so I called to say I wouldn’t make it in. Tony’s response was “you’re fired – come in tomorrow!” she says.

Her second first day was spent helping make silver bars in the refinery, which sparked her curiosity and love for the way things work. She says she has been learning something new every day since.

Yvonne’s role includes managing our debtors and creditors along with our storage accounts. Her sense of humour and genuine care for customers lights up the office and she lives by the motto: ‘Treat as you would like to be treated.’

When it comes to transporting packages, it doesn’t matter if it’s an ounce of silver or a kilo of gold, Yvonne treasures each treasure – making sure each order is checked and collated correctly, securely packaged and our customers are kept informed every step of the way.

Yvonne describes her career as being filled with wonderful opportunities. From real estate to customs brokers to security, she has also juggled being a stay at home mum with house renovating, amongst many other things.

Yvonne is mum to two grown children and family life keeps her busy. Her spare time is spent in the outdoors, hiking, working around the house and has recently included colouring in and playing blocks with the newest member of the family – her granddaughter. She has lots of fond memories of family holidays with her kids when they are young, and is enjoying doing it all over again as a grandparent.
